Purple peach and yellow bouquet

A little mix of the unexpected is always such fun!  Loved this bride's bouquet in shades of purple, peach, and yellow - it made for a gorgeous splash of wedding colors that were unique and fun and still elegant and classic all at the same time. I loved these purple and burgundy anemones and the lavender little silver spray roses together with peach ranunculus and queen anne's lace. purple peach yellow anemone bride bouquet

Autumn bliss at Matthaei botanic gardens

This wedding is a personal favorite for so, so many reasons.  I have been so excited to share these images with you of Natalie and Mike's blissful wedding last autumn at the University of Michigan's Matthaei Botanical Gardens.  I can't say enough how happy these images from Abby Rose make me, and just how beautifully she captured the joy of this truly wonderful couple (and Abby's shared even more amazing images of their day!).  So truly honored to have been a part of this celebration!

Natural elements

Loved this cascading bouquet with lots of lush, natural foliage, brown lotus pods, cream majolica spray roses (just bursting open!), a hint of caramel and blush garden roses, and feathers!  This was for a lovely wedding at Misty Farm in Ann Arbor - can't wait to see the pro photos of this lovely couple!

Orange is the new...

Orange wedding flowers have been such fun this year!  I have loved getting to create these bold and bright bouquets that have such a joyful feel!  Here's one for a recent wedding at Earhart Manor in orange, peach, blush, pink and blue - and I just loved how it turned out! This one featured orange dahlias and ranunculus, pink fado roses, orange free spirit roses, and blue nigella.

Fox hills wedding

So wonderful to see these beautiful images from this Fox Hills wedding - loved the soft tones and textures in peach and ivory - the juliet and campanella peach garden roses were some of my favorite this season!  And bride Aimee is just so stunning!  Thank you Once Upon A Memory Photography for these beautiful images!

White oaks farm wedding

I was so excited to see these beautiful images of Laura and Sean's wedding at White Oaks Farm in Dexter.  Melanie Reyes Photography captured the day so beautifully - this family's warmth and joy shines through!  And the moments she captured of the adorable flower girls are precious.  I hope you enjoy.  Congratulations Laura and Sean - it was a genuine pleasure to be a part of this celebration! flower girls down the aisle outdoor barn wedding

These flower girls could not be any cuter!  I just love being asked to create flower crowns - these were mostly soft foliage with lavender and ivory rose accents for a soft, natural look.  The aisle flowers featured dark and light purple with white hydrangea and a splash of yellow, together with silver dollar eucalyptus foliage.

Having so much fun at this wedding already!

local favorites

Today I picked up flowers for this weekend's wedding on my morning walk to the Kerrytown market - bliss!  Thank you Seeley Farm for these beautiful orange zinnias - this weekend's bride will love them!  Love using gorgeous flowers from local farmers right here in Ann Arbor - can't wait to design with these.

I'm also teaching a class in September with local flowers and veggies from Seeley Farm, for more on that visit bloomclass.com.

Lemon yellow summer favorites

A bride just asked me about summer arrangements featuring lemon yellow and it made me think of these arrangements from last summer - some of my favorites! - and I realized in the business of summer wedding season, I never posted these, so, better late than never! I absolutely loved making these arrangements for a University of Michigan League Ballroom reception for a wonderful couple who love herbs and textures and we mixed in a rich color palate of lemon yellow, peach, and burgundy.  These arrangements featured real lemons (which turned out to be fun and unexpected, but also just plain beautiful!), mint, mint geranium, succulents, yellow garden roses, burgundy snapdragons, white phlox, all in a gold glass compote dish.  I hope you enjoy!

Special start to wedding season

It's been a special start to the wedding season this year for me.  I welcomed by first baby in February, and my heart has been full.  I was lucky enough to take most of February through April to be with her, and my spring and early summer brides were kind enough to  give me this space.  Many of them had booked with me in summer and autumn of 2014, and when I let them know that I was taking this time mostly away from work and email, I was a little nervous that they would be understandably concerned if I would be ready for the weddings and in tune to their needs as spring approached.  But instead, they all congratulated me, trusted me, and were so generous in giving me that time and space on maternity leave.  And when we did get back in touch this spring, they all asked about my little girl and truly shared in that joy with me.  And I was truly excited to see them on their wedding days.  They gave me a great gift of work/family balance, and I am so grateful for that.  Thank you.  It's a gift to work with such generous and thoughtful people!  And here's a few sneak peaks of some of the flowers from this spring and autumn:

Loved this bride's bouquet for a wedding at Misty Farm, with a mix of pink, peach, burgundy, ivory, orange and yellow - with a few succulents, too!

We were in a sea of beautiful white, ivory, and blush blooms at The Inn at St. Johns.  Gorgeous cake by Sweet Heather Anne, and so much fun to create a topper of garden roses and hydrangea for the finishing touch!
